The winter counterpart to the 'Freewheelers' are the 'Tobogganeers' - a little bit French, eh? They too are free spirited and ambitious. The 'Tobogganeers' don't believe in travelling light and tow everything they need - friends, food, igloos and beer.
These 5x7 paintings are started with a very old fashioned tool called a dip or nib pen. Used with India ink, I get a very dark black varying line width which I think makes things more interesting. But it does create a degree of technical failure. Like blotting or splattering. Really annoying when it happens on one of the last strokes to a painting which means it is put in the rejects pile and I start again.
So each piece is truly an original. Right down to the personality delivered by that pen.
